I’m the kind of person that always tries to match your vibe and keep things fun and laid back, but I didn’t have to match Tara or Nils’ vibes at all – they already matched perfectly! From our very first zoom call, we just got along like old friends and that was only cemented even more when I met them in Lincoln Park at the Montrose Bird Sanctuary for their engagement shoot! I’m personally from Rockford, IL so I’d never been to this specific spot in the city before, and it was well worth the drive! (There is a permit fee for this location, I believe $45 and it does cost to park!)
For Tara and Nils, they are a super unique couple that have awesome, out-of-the-box ideas and hobbies and I LOVE that about them! First, we stopped in a little spot to recreate their proposal and that was just so adorable! Of course, it wouldn’t have been complete without Tara knighting Nils as her Knight in Shining Armor!
From there, we took a stroll and had some more fun with the swords before capping the shoot off with some more romantic shots with the city as a backdrop! It was so cool to get to watch them re-enact their sword-fighting positions and they were SO good, too! I’m sure passersby wondered what we were up to, but that’s all the more fun! Let’s make your engagement session as unique and tailored to your love story as possible, just like we did with Tara + Nils! Cannot wait to shoot their wedding next year!
